Waverley St, Sandringham

P/LThis dwelling, completed in 2013, and designed for a couple with a young family wanting to increase their living area and the quality of that living space.  The brief was to design a modern dwelling with rear yard that the children could play in and an outdoor entertainment area, directly connected to the living areas (both visually and physically) including a pool and spa.

The east-west orientation of the site allowed us to open all the living spaces up to the northern sun.

At ground level the entry gives direct access to the guest room.  Beyond this space, with it’s coffered ceiling, there is direct access to the first floor level up a beautifully simple timber stair with glazed balustrade.  Moving past laundry and powder room the hallways opens up to the large, light-filled open living space which looks directly out onto the outdoor entertaining area and pool. The more private parts of the dwelling; bedrooms and retreat, with ultra-modern bathrooms, are at first floor level.

This dwelling is a contemporary response to the client’s needs.  The clean, modern design creates a simple and elegant finish.
